2008 Racing Season Over!

With the final rounds of the Pre-Injection Championship with Derby Phoenix over, we take a break from racing for the winter, while most of us eagerly await next spring when the carnage will begin all over again.

Congratulations to Luke Tansley, who won the Novice Pre-Injection Championship this year! Luke showed a lot of skill this year, not only being at the front of the novices but hustling with the faster riders in the main PI600 championship.

We got to know Luke throughout the season and can say that he's a decent young lad who rode well consistently and deserved to win the novice championship. He with the support of his family did very well this season and will be turning to the Formula 600 Class with Derby Phoenix in 2009.

Congratulations also to Erol Ahmet, who won the main Pre-Injection Championship. Erol actually managed to secure enough points to be able to miss the final 2 meetings and still finish 1st. Erol is an obviously vert talented rider who we wish success and good luck for the future, as do we his team mate Paul Fryer. Paul is very good rider and also a good laugh, we look forward to seeing him next season.

As for ProjectRace, we finished 8th in the Pre-Injection Novice Championship. Not fantastic admittedly, however considering we only managed to compete at 2 1/2 meetings its not actually that bad!

We managed a 1st place trophy at Brands Hatch at the beginning of the year, which has been enough to focus both the team and Adam our rider to drive toward getting more and more. 2008 was very much our 'learning' year, to which we all have, enormously! Next year we will be wiser and more prepared for the challenge that is racing motorcycles.

We just need to make sure we have the funds and support to continue next season!

We've made many friends in Derby Phoenix in 2008, with both the riders and the event organisers. Many thanks to John Frakes and Jim Hinchliff who provided fantastic event organisation skills and genuinely helpful and supportive advice throughout the season.

Needless to say, we think Derby Phoenix is by far the best, most welcoming, rider friendly club in the UK!

To all those we've met and made friends with in 2008, we hope to see you all again next year!
