More lost points!!
Weve missed anglesey, frustrating and dissapointing, however un-avoidable.
Such is life when you destroy your engine. After missing all the points from Cadwell Park and still being 4th in the championship was tolerable, but missing this number of points is rubbish!
Thank you to everyone whos made an effort to help, lets hope we can do well at Snetterton and get back in the top 3 at least.
Pretty much everyone i spoke to about Cadwell assured me that i was going to love it. And i did, until i crashed...
The practice session was disappointing, i was being held up so much by people that i couldn’t ride the bike properly and only found out there was a problem after i had started the first race of the day. It was ok to learn the track, but learning it 'too slow' i think is bad practice.
The bike seemed to hesitate, almost felt as though there was not enough fuel at about 11,000rpm, the power would almost disappear and while i eagerly waited for some feedback, when it hit 13,000rpm the power came back, i got a quick spurt of power but then had to change up to avoid the limiter.
This proved to be a major problem, i was being murdered down the straights, and knew that i would have to make up ground both on the brakes and in the corners. For a few laps this seemed to work, i dropped a few positions at the beginning but then found an optimum position given my problems in the pack.
The 'mountain' was always going to be the place i was most nervous, having the front wheel in the air felt so alien but again, after a few laps i learnt to like it almost as much as the photographers did. However after pulling what must have been THE biggest wheelie id ever managed over it and whilst being too cocky about my cornering speeds, i missed my braking marker and couldn’t slow down enough for the following chicane and low sided into it.
I ended up sitting on the apex of the 1st corner, with my back turned to the approaching racers praying that they didnt plough into me and snap my spine!
I have to say thank you at this point to everyone for reacting so quickly and not killing me : )
I rolled off the track, with my bike laying on its side, bouncing off the limiter in a cloud of thick white smoke. I went to go back to it to hit the kill switch but honestly thought it was going to blow up, so i left it to the marshals who say they heard it go 'pop' as they were trying to get to it.
Rubbish.
Im going to miss Angelsey while trying to source a new engine and fix all the damage, so Snetterton is where im going to be making up all my lost points!
Many thanks to Wesley Computers for the new site, it looks much much better than the last. Much more professional and user friendly.
Hopefully we can attract a few more sponsors with it!
